Tell Me a Story

Focusing on the experiences of a single family, we hope to show more of the experiences of immigrant Korean Americans, especially with regard to moving between different cultures. We explore themes of separation, belonging, and filial piety while also emphasizing that our stories are not our own: we are working off of the foundation set by previous generations while also laying the groundwork for the next generation to build from.

Where the Mugunghwa Blooms

This year's production follows the lives of three college students and their families during the 1980s, highlighting their passions, pains, and hearts to love and protect during a time of civil unrest in light of the Gwangju People's Uprising and the June Demonstrations. This story reveals the persistence of the Korean people that motivated them to keep on fighting for justice, aiming to encourage the audience to unite in a resilient heart to love and protect despite challenging times.

Meet Me Where I Am

"나를 만나러 와요"

This year's production focused on the history of first generation Korean-Americans and the various endeavors encountered when adjusting to a dual culture juxtaposition. It highlights the difficulties of a first-generation Korean-American, focusing on the goal for a better life for future generations ahead. This story covers generational trauma that has been carried through years of authoritarian expectations and breakthrough that can be reached with each generation as each representing character is willing to take a step towards healing.

You Are Not Alone

"넌 혼자가 아니야"

This year’s production focused on the student experience within the hyper-competitive Korean society. COVID-19 brought many changes to our lives, and young generations experience feelings of frustration and helplessness. Through this production, we wanted to tell you that you don't have to be perfect, smart, or talented to be worthy of love, because simply being there is more than enough. We also wanted to show what is possible when people come together to pursue one goal, and through it, emphasize that we are not alone.
